Dr. Colleen Long's passion is rooted in helping people lead rich and meaningful lives, in which they are truly present and are able to enjoy the feelings of contentment and happiness. She has spent most of her career studying what factors contribute to these abilities. Additionally, she has put her research into practice, working with a multitude of people from all walks of life who have been able to identify their strengths and seek their full potential towards creating a more meaningful life.

Dr. Long's work stems largely from the field of positive psychology, which is the scientific study of the unique strengths and virtues each individual possesses and how those can factor into creating a meaningful life. Also, coming from an evolutionary psychology framework, Dr. Long believes that each individual is intrinsically "wired" to discover their own purpose and potential on this planet, and until they have done so, often can feel as if they are leading a meaningless existence. It is through this achievement of purpose that an individual truly begins to experience fulfillment and contentment in their daily life..

Through years of study and practice, Dr. Long has developed an innovative model toward achieving happiness and fulfillment. This model is known as the B.A.L.A.N.C.E model and is an acronym standing for the seven factors, supported by research, to be linked to the experience of happiness in one’s life. These factors are; Benevolence, Awareness, Learning, Active flow, Nurturing relationships, Calming Meditation, and Exercise/Nutrition. By employing a B.A.L.A.N.C.E based needs assessment with each client, Dr. Long is able to formulate a plan to create the life one has always strived for.
